I would like to submit not so much an entry, but my story of someone who has learned to live with, no, learned to turn my lemon into lemonade.
Twelve years ago I suffered a stroke as a result of an AVM. My husband and I were making plans for the future. My daughter had just turned one year old, I had a great job I loved, great boss, co-workers everything, then one morning I woke with a headache, and that's all I remember. My next vivid memory is being in the hospital surrounded by total strangers. I have a very large family, (six sisters and one brother, including a pile of nieces and nephews to numerous to count). To top it off I am black my husband is white, imagining if you can my confusion looking at my family and seeing one white face in all that darkness. You bet I was confused.
Not only did I come from a family of mostly female, but opinionated females. They drove the nursing staff crazy. They wanted the poor staff to forget the other patients and concentrate on me. I on the other hand became as difficult as any patient could be. Well I'd like to state here and now that they were the best, and thank you, and thank you Mom & Dad sisters (Glenda, Thelma, Grace, Wadie, Tuttie, & Bonnie), and brother (Curtis), Big thanks and love you to my amazing and wonderful husband Keith & daughter Bonnie. And to all my friends at Koenig & Strey. Last and very much not least I want to thank and give credit to our Lord and savior Jesus Christ.
Looking back it has been twelve years and a lot of changes. My husband daughter and I recently visited Sedona, AZ and I walked along the Grand Canyon. That's only the beginning. With the Lord's help and blessing, I plan to take more vacations and see the world.
